THIS IS MORE THAN JUST TAKING PHOTOS.
This is about remembering every season, every stage, every moment. It’s about preserving little hands and tiny toes and chunky baby cheeks. It’s about being able to hear your kids contagious giggle through a photograph so you can look back at it when they’re teenagers if you’re feeling nostalgic.
The biggest misconception, when it comes to timing for photos, is that there is this magical + perfect time in life to have photos taken. That maybe true for the big things - weddings and birthdays and graduations - but life is filled to the brim with the tiny moments.
The small moments are the ones we’ll cherish forever. Those moments are the ones that are truly photo-worthy.
Being a mother has changed me. I see things so differently now than I did before them. The small moments are the real moments. They’re silly and messy and sticky and so funny.
There’s a time and a place for the big and bold and sparkly moments, but it’s the in-between stuff that means the most.
I’m Kelsey - a family and intimate wedding photographer. I’m based in Indianapolis but often travel for sessions.
For a while I thought I had to pigeon-hole myself into a specific category of photography because I was told it would “kill the business” because it would confuse people.
Really though, I’m just in the business of photographing connections… and aren’t those all around us? Running through the field barefoot, standing on tippy toes helping do the dishes, holding tiny hands as we walk down the dunes? Aren’t those same connections in the face of a father who sees his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time or the tipsy bridesmaids who choreographed a whole opening number to your favorite Jonas Brothers song?
You see, connection really is all around us, and I’m just so glad I have the privilege of documenting it all. For you.
